Bat Trang pottery is made in Bat Trang village, a village of about 5,000 people located about 30 minutes by car from the capital Hanoi. It is said to have begun around the 14th century, boasting a history of over 600 years. While influenced by Chinese pottery, it has established its own unique style that is free and uninhibited. Bat Trang pottery is not made on a potter's wheel; instead, clay is poured into a mold and shaped by applying pressure from above. It is characterized by its simple designs depicting familiar nature.
